a golden pale ale with some honey in it, flavorful and drinkable, simple, but a solid beer. nice to see these guys in idaho now, not sure how well a beer like this transfers over state lines, being affiliated with the heritage of the state and i think the university as well, but whatever, it tastes good and people like good beer everywhere right? its real light for a pale, with some hops, but decidedly not bitter, not much appreciable character from the honey in nose or taste, but a nice hop profile that teases orange peel, weed, and fresh cut flowers. to me though, this one drinks more like a sturdy blonde or golden ale than a pale, its not dry enough, or bitter enough on the hop side, to really hit the pale ale mark, and this ends up being something you just crush from the can rather than pour out and contemplate, not a bad thing, just not quite what pale ale means to me now. a touch sweet but in a good way, hoppy but more fruity than bitter here, and a good beer overall, but a drinker, not a thinker. i am still a little up and down on these guys, but i was into this one. its light not not too light, balanced but still mild, and fresh as can be. anyone who likes beer at all will like this...

Poured from can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a lightly hazed yellow color with a one finger head of white foam. The foam fades rather fast to leave a trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strongest of a bready and doughy smell mixed with aromas of citrus hop and yeast. Along with these smells comes some lighter notes of tropical fruit.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready and slightly fruity taste with some tropical fruits and citrus hitting the taste buds. As the taste advances it becomes more bready in nature at the expense of the dough, and gains more yeasty and a bit more hoppy tastes of citrus, grassy, and a bit of herbal. All in all, with the transitions that occur one is left with a rather smooth, easy drinking, and refreshing taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel –The body of the brew is moderate in thickness and in carbonation, which are great for both the mid-level hop, sweet, and malty taste of the brew.
Overall – A nice easy sipping brew. While nothing out of this world, it is easy to drink and rather flavorful all while only at 5.4 % abv.
