Our dark brown vanilla porter is a robust blend of smooth, crisp malts with light hints of coffee, caramel, and chocolate. After a light addition of earthy hops, this silky smooth beer is blended with the world's finest Madagascar vanilla for an end result which is bodacious in vanilla flavor.

Jeremiah Johnson Vanilla Porter, 6.4% ABV. Pours deep brown with a two-finger tan head that left great lacing. Aroma is strong vanilla. Flavor is slightly sweet vanilla and slightly bitter roast malt. Decent mouthfeel, overall excellent.

.Smells great, with a slightly chocolatey taste. It was a little bland maybe, with a somewhat thin mouthful, but was easy drinking and completely inoffensive!.

L: Big coffee colored head, very attractive. S: Hint of vanilla, upfront spices (mostly cinnamon), and a hoppy bite. It’s sharp, I really like it.
T: Piney hops give it a fairly high bitterness. Caramel malt, a bit of smokiness, some dark chocolate, some spiciness. Fairly sweet on the finish.
F: Very smooth, but there’s an odd chalky-silty feel that’s pronounced on the finish. It’s very noticeable, and I’m still not sure if it’s good or bad.
O: My favorite part is probably the aroma. I really like the spices, but I wish they (and the vanilla) came out more in the mouth. The feel is a little odd too. I can enjoy it, but probably wouldn’t but again.

Pours an opaque black color with a thin brown head. Smell is a sweet toasty aroma with sweet chocolate and vanilla notes. The beer smells better than it tastes. The sweetness is gone and there's a dry bitter charcoal flavor. Overall not bad. But there are better porters.

12oz can poured into a pint glass. Review from notes.
A: Nearly jet-black pour, dark brown showing on the edges of the glass, dark khaki head recedes to a ring.
S: Vanilla and dark roasted malt, nutty bordering on peanut butter? Roasty, with hints of coffee and a ghostly dark caramel.
T: Same on the palate, with the addition of some chocolate/dark chocolate, finishes with a hint of espresso, but overall the taste doesn't quite live up to the nose.
MF: Nearly medium body, smooth and drinkable.
O: There are some nice notes of roasted dark barley and vanilla, with some nutty impressions of coffee and chocolate, and overall this is a decent vanilla porter. At 6.4% abv, it just isn't quite as full or well-rounded as I would like it to be.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a quarter finger Khaki head that dissipates to patches with fine lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, coffee and vanilla; somewhat subdued. Flavor is dark toasted malt, vanilla, cocoa, coffee char, a little tart in the finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A rather straightforward vanilla porter with a good malt base and a touch of coffee and chocolate. The mild tartness in the finish is a little disconcerting, but overall a good basic porter.
