on tap at the brewery, and i would have liked it a whole lot more if it werent for the midas crush from map that i had just had previously, that beer really ranked high for me, so anything hoppy after that was going to have to take a second best, at best. this here is pretty good though, well hoppy, although not all that fresh tasting, a little faded maybe, and kind of sweet. the fruity notes in the hops, especially the dry hop aroma, really seems to bring out some elements of sweetness from the grain, floral honey and golden raisin and such, it seems like a lot, good flavor but a little muddled i would say, some residula sugar lingering on with the bitterness. its tasty, but the feel is off for me. heavy and sweet with a relative lack of carbonation, a bad combination, especially in the ipa style, although the flavor for me is more than good enough to redeem the pint and allow me to reccomend it as my favorite beer i had in here. a few tweaks away from greatness, but a very solid foundational ipa with a lot of hop didversity throughout it. i wish it were drier and more bubbly, but they are on the right track here...

Poured from can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading over a long period of time to leave bits of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell- The aroma of the brew is very strong of a tropical fruit smells of tangerine, papaya, and mango. Along with these smells comes some doughy aromas as well as some grass. Other sweeter smells of caramel and a good showing of a grapefruit aroma are there as well giving a nice sweet and citrusy hoppy smell overall.
Taste - The taste begins with a bit of the tropical fruit flavors that were detected in the nose, but much less then would have been anticipated from the nose. Along with the tropical fruit comes some grapefruit hop and a slightly drier bready/cracker taste. As the taste moves on the sweeter tropical fruits fade some all while some hop flavors of a pine and herbal nature come to the tongue. With a hint of some hay and grain working their way in as well, one is left with a slightly crisp and actually more dankly hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the beer is on the slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is slightly lower. The thinner body is quite nice for the crisp bready/cracker tastes of the brew as well as being good for the more dank hop tastes. A little more carbo would have likely been better for the crisp tastes, but even said, the overall feel was pretty decent.
Overall- A pretty decent IPA overall. The nose and taste are very different, but still both are nice. A good brew to try if you get a chance.
