Deep red-orange almost auburn beer with an off-white, rocky head that retreats to a respectable layer that costs the glass with every tip.
The malt and hops blend to create a woody aroma.
Taste is the embodiment of the look and smell. Partial to the style but hitting the mark.
A full mouth but a bit sticky and coating.
A very good beer. Makes me want to try other styles they brew.

Liked this one a lot more from this brewery. Good hop/malt balance from what I can tell, Alcohol kinda comes through sometimes, but overall I'd say this was a little better than I was expecting.

Poured from a can with BB date 3 weeks out into a tulip glass a light tan 1F head of foam sits atop an amber colored beer. The color reminds me of undiluted ice tea with about 90% transparency and very light random lacing forms as you drink.
Very light wet hay notes and green hops greet the nose. An odd faint whiff of barnyard or decaying vegetable patch finished the nose.
The taste starts as watery, tangy, and green hop driven and is pretty astringent. The end of the taste has thymol hop notes and light tannin which leads me to think it has some sort of vegetable alcohol. An almost light charred barrel note lingers with the thymol as the aftertaste continues. Or it is a really strong note of raw alcohol, varnish like.
While the mouthfeel starts light to medium and a bit watery it ends with a slickness from the astringency. The vegetable and barnyard notes along with tannin are prominent aftertastes. Carbonation is light.
Overall a really disappointing beer for me,. No hints of malt of sweetness and the strange taste notes are really not enjoyable. It is almost like this beer had fermented too far, even though it is not yet at its end date for best taste. I just noted the alcohol ABV, very noticeable. Yup it all that and more. Not going to try it again.

Look - nice and foamy out of the 12 oz can - deep amber/red and fairly clear - great activity
Smell - some caramel / dark brown sugar - woodsy and some flower/citrus
Taste - a great Red tang to it - nice hop bite - nice hop flavor - slightly sweet but dries out a touch - very fruity and only slight piney flavor - some tropical notes in there as well - slight charred wood aftertaste - TONS of flavor in this one
Feel - medium bodied and slightly oily - stays quite bubbly and never loses interest on the tongue
Overall - this is a great Imperial Red - I have only had a few Imp. Reds that I really like (and prefer over regular Reds). This is up there with Elevation, Epic, Oskar Blues' Imp. Reds in my opinion. I really enjoyed this one and will pick it up again in the future.

I don't feel the need to wreak havoc, terror or even cause a melee. A brouhaha is in order thou so I'll have another. Solid beer but not outstanding.

i am surprised i havent reviewed this one until now, i have been enjoying it since it first came out, and would hold it among the best red ale types around the state of colorado, has been since day one, and even though the pace of innovation has been a bit slow from these guys, i continue to dig their handful of canned offerings. this one is sudsy brick red from the can and holds a rising tan head pretty well. aroma of dry baked or kilned red malt, with a soft caramel sweetness but more earthy depth than obvious sweetness. notes of maple and honey to it, pie crust, and slight smoke even, its hearty and autumnal and nice, always fresh when i have it too. this is also a little hoppier and stronger than most, so its pretty darn robust for the basic amber ale drinker, but i like the boldness. the alcohol is there only for a second in the finish, and the hops linger as long as any grain sugar. pine and orange peel come to mind, seemingly perfectly selected to match all the malt flavor, bitter enough to balance it out too, even lead awhile. its smart beer, a killer recipe, and as much as the others have been around a little more, this one is like their signature flavor to me. i love it every time i have one, and regard it as quite unique in the style. a really nice beer overall, fully american and modern, but with all the elements. these can really sneak up on you too...
