This is my fifth from Reuben's Brews. All were interesting. And I have rated them all above the average.
Their Robust Porter came to me on tap and at lunch at the Next Door Gastropub as downtown Port Angeles reinvents itself.
Reuben's Robust Porter is a good example of why have this style on BA; it is neither heavily roasted like stouts, nor is heavily hopped like the American Porter, nor does this have the "stale" blend of the English Porter.
Reuben's Robust P opens with a nice foam from the tap and keeps enough to form a lace on most the glass; nice dark ruby tinge also. Smells are roasty. Tastes are nicely balanced with minimal hop use for an American micro. Medium-mouthed and soft. Very suitable for my lunch of a veggie burger.
It has been a while since I went on Reuben's website and see they have progressed. They just opened a Waterfront gastropub which soon will be-burgeoning-even-more. Reuben's Foundation has given away $150k to the community. And their Mosaic State Brewers Collective is making the next generation of brewers more diverse. All deserve my Very Good Overall Hugs.

Too carbonated for me, and felt a bit thin.

Good Porter!!! Features roasted malt balanced by some molasses-like sweetness. Poured from a 12 oz can into a pint glass, this beer presents as a dark brown color with only a hint of reddish light at the side of the glass. The big, frothy beige head has better than average retention and some lacing on the glass. Aroma and taste include a roasted maltiness and nutty aspect with some molassess thrown in for flavor and sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly smooth. Goes down easy. I found this one to be quite enjoyable.

08/29/23 on bottom of can.
Dark brown with light beige 2-finger head with good retention and copious lacing.
Aroma and flavor are complex with dark chocolate, medium caramel, light roast with cola and herbal hops with moderate bitterness.
Feel is smooth with medium body and light carbonation.
Excellent robust porter with great complexity.

Color is dark ruby red with a wisp of beige foam in the goblet. Quite sudsy and mouthfilling. Rich and malty with a just enough bitterness to cleanse the palate. Pleasant grainy aroma with a whiff of leafy hops. This is highly refreshing with an abundance of flavor yet a friendly quaffable taste. Dark roasted malt with a hint of burnt sugar, and very little of the charred taste. A little caramel sweetness with a dry finish. This is one of the best Stouts in the West. From the 12 oz can dated 07/11/23.

Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz can poured into my snifter. date stamp is fairly illegible, but I can make out pkg and a 2022. otherwise not sure of the rest.
the beer pours a rich cola brown color with a fizzy beige head of about 1 cm. The foam doesnt stick around long and is a thin edge layer soon after the pour. There are a few wispy islands in the center of the glass that appear to be getting replenished from streams of carbonation, but nothing ever really forms.
Aroma on this beer is roasty and roasty. WOW! Dark dark chocolate and some char and a ton of roasted grain. No hop character nor any sweet malt notes.
First sip reveals a medium body and very fine carbonation and a smooth texture. the beer drinks easy for the physical traits.
Flavor is exactly what the nose advertises. Lots of roasted malt note. Again a bit of char and some high cacao dark chocolate. I do get a faint hint of caramel in the background, but the beer finishes roasty and this lingers long after each swallow. never any ABV hints nor really and hop characteristics here.
This beer seems like an olde school craft beer, I really enjoy this one and would definitely drink it again. Probably would have it in the regular rotation. And at only 5.9% could almost be sessionable.

Received from @snaotheus in the NBS BIF #15. Canned on 9/28/2021. Poured into a pint glass. It pours mahogany brown with cola hues and sports a half finger of creamy, light khaki head and clinging lacing. It has a full, fragrant nose with burnt coffee, dark chocolate, bready malt and burnt nuts. It's nice and roasty with lots of toasted brown bread, burnt coffee, bakers chocolate, and earthy, nutty char. There is just a hint of caramel sweetness but on the whole it's roasty and bitter. It's medium-bodied and moderately carbonated and the 5.9% ABV easily allows for a second pour or can. Overall, this is a very solid, well-crafted Porter with enough substance to pair with a hearty meal but also appropriate for casual drinking.

this is truly excellent, and for all the more modern and trendy stuff these guys do so well, they also really crush the classic styles, and this is a true to style beauty, deep brown in color, medium bodied, frothy at first and then settling down, looks right in the pint glass from the can, and its nice to have a robust porter without any frills or extras, its just straight up, dig it. great with heady pizza too, this really hit as a food beer for me. aromas of molasses, coffee, and some sweetness from the malt, but also roasty and bitter, caramel and light smoke as it warms, yum. the flavor definitely has a little more sweetness than many, which heavies it up just a bit, brown sugar and toffee to me, right in the center, but the rest of the malt profile is money, dates and figs, melted dark chocolate, high end cigar, molasses, and good espresso, its decadent while also being drinkable, and the robust part is no joke, this is almost intense, really good. the body is thick and full, and it does cling to the tongue and teeth a bit, but its delicious residue! even a little english type ale yeast pushing through for me with some breadiness, lover that in a porter. overall an excellent example of the style, and another good one from these guys! more winter than spring, but it still feels like winter here so this was spot on last night.
