A: hazy straw yellow. almost no head to speak of but decent lacing. fat bubbles.
s: hay and barnyard funk. hints of black peppercorn. spicy with good earth. full of citrus and lemon zest.
T: zesty spice hits you immediately. straw, hay and earth follow it up with huge citrus. puckering lemon sprinkled with pepper. quick finish of lemon abd grapefruit.
m: full of carbonation. springy and lively. doesn't weigh you down, light.
o: a very nice offering. different. a saison with some slipe to it while still bringing the citrus! /88

Had this rye peppercorn Saison on tap at Olives in Cincinnati. Pint glass appeared with minimal head and a golden color. The smell was a bit peppery and a bit sweeter than expected. The taste was nice and balanced - the rye and the peppercorns came together and were balanced against the sweetness of the beer. 8% seemed excessive to me, but it worked here. Exceedingly drinkable and no off flavors. The mouthfeel was a bit off for ths style - a bit heavy and under carbonated. Overall, I was pretty impressed with my first go around from Blank Slate.
