easily the best beer i have ever had from these guys, on tap at vine street for stout month. great use of bourbon here, the sweet honey vanilla notes of the whiskey come right through with the coffee on the nose, resulting in a rich but balanced aroma, really smooth and awesome, tempting for sure. flavor starts with the whiskey, but it doesnt get too sweet or hot, instead going in more of a dark bitter chocolate and earthy deeply roasted coffee direction, the interplay with those elements is tremendous. slippery and slick going down, with plenty of body but not filling or tooth rotting or dense like some of these get. the coffee has to be cold brewed, as there is no acidity from it at all in here. overall this is an elite level brew, the best they have ever made perhaps, and thats saying something because i like their beers a lot, especially the dark stuff, but i reckon if this were bottled and widely distributed it would garner a great deal of attention. its on par with any of the big boys in this field i have had. get down there and have a glass before its gone. well worth the eight bucks they charge for a snifter! one of my favorite bourbon barrel stouts of the year so far.

Poured into a snifter at Southern Sun. Smell is intoxicatingly delicious, the bourbon comes through perfectly with notes of toasty-woodiness. Taste reveals the coffee a bit more, a little overpowered by the caramel flavors in the bourbon, but not in a bad way. Booziness is covered up excellently, tastes more like a 6 or 7% ABV beer. Mouthfeel is a bit thick for me, but doesn't detract from the deliciousness of this beer. A great bourbon barrel aged stout that doesn't taste as "imperial" as you'd think. :)

On tap at Vine Street Pub and served in a snifter for $8. Very sweet aroma like molasses, brown sugar, delicious candy. Flavor is a decent bit of sweetness, good stout notes, touch of the bourbon barrel but not much coffee that I could pick up. Overall a pretty good bourbon barrel stout.
