Appearance: Pours a medium copper with a slight haze. It's tan head holds at a small cap. It's a bit light for style.
Smell: Overall a bit subdued, with a whiff of malt and spicy, sprucy hops.
Taste: The flavor is ruled by the hops, with a firm bitterness and a slighty minty flavor suggesting Northern Brewer. There's a bit of hop spiciness as well. The malts barely even show up, as there's little-to-no balance to speak of. Finishes bitter with a touch of spruce. Tasty, but not like an Alt...
Mouthfeel: Rich and medium in body, with a lengthy finish that turns crisp and dry.
Drinkability: This is certainly an interesting one. It's not at all like an Alt, but is still a tasty and drinkable brew. If I scored to style, my numbers would be much lower, but I'm not going to.
Simply put, this is a confused, but tasty, beer.
