On tap at Under the Sun into a snifter.

A-The beer arrives with a nice, one and one-half finger of tan head. The foam is dense and retention is good for the ABV. Some lace clings to the glass. The beer is nearly black and still in the glass. Nice looking.

S-The aroma is heavy on the coffee flavor with suggestions of brewed drip instead of the more rich and roasted espresso flavors like some other beers in this genre. Bitterness is lower and acidity is mild for the strength of the coffee aroma. There is some heat lurking beneath, but not much in the way of barrel.

T-The taste tracks the smell closely. Lots of brewed coffee flavor with only subtle hints of barrel. The mild bitterness lingers on the palate after each sip making this one a slow=drinker. The alcohol heat is there, and I detect light hints of oak and brown sugar, as well.

M-The body is substantial, but not cloying or syrupy. The carbonation is moderate to active for the style but it never intrudes.

O-One of the better beers I have had from the Mountain Sun. It looks and feels really nice, and if you like a lot of coffee in your stout with lower levels of barrel and bitterness, this is a good option.
