a most excellent barleywine, one of the best being locally made even. its very much an english style barleywine, without much hops going on and the classic high gravity english yeast character to it. its crystal clear, indian brown color, almost ruby red though in the right light, with a thick creamy white spreadable looking white head on top with wonderful retention, appears almost nitro looking. lots of dried fruit in the aroma, red apple, raisin, even slight cherry, but the beers best feature is that its not at all sweet, although it possesses sweeter flavors, the end result is very dry, especially for the style. the flavor shows a deep but somewhat simple malt base, not the usual layer cake i am used to, but i love the cleaner, more streamlined nature of it, with hints of pie crust, fig jam, and dried cranberry. very autumnal, wintery too i suppose, not wanting at all for more body, but approaching crisp and snappy in the finish, feelings i almost never associate with barleywine. freakishly drinkable, mellow but well carbonate. i like that in a barleywine sometimes, but its rare to find it. a really impressive beer from these guys, one of their very best i have ever had!

Absolutely delicious. On draft at the Vine Street Pub. Poured a clear copper color with a 1/4 inch beige head. Aromas were of rich malt and caramel. Smell like a dessert. Flavors were rich and sweet. Mostly sweet malt, caramel, and with slight notes of vanilla and whiskey. Moth feel is full and rich. Denfinetly worth trying!
