A: The beer looks like cloudy peach juice. The off-white head has medium sized bubbles that fade at a moderate rate, leaving a nice layer of foam on top of the beer, edged with lace.
S: A light scent that's fruity, fresh & flowery.
T: Wow - great fresh & cool taste as well! It evokes the image of being on a mountain hill side with the sun shining on my face, while a chilly spring breeze wafts after a hard rain. The name of the brewery (Mountain Sun) sure does fit this beer. Essence of peach, apricot, pear, lemon & pineapple are present, then a secondary layer of taste comes through with alcoholic apple and pear. Finally a whallop of pine smacks me in the palate and tickels my nose.
M: Good body, juicy & robust. Nice carbonation that compliments the flavors.
D: I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. It's very unique for a DIPA - the wet hops add a freshness that strikes a good balance with the complexity and the alcohol level. This is a fitting beer for the caliber of many produced in Southern California, yet it wouldn't get lost in the SoCal elite beer crowd. It should also be mentioned that this beer can not only stand alone, but pairs well with food.
