Poured on tap at Vine St; into a tulip.
Appearance - pitch black; thin, mocha head that surprisingly leaves good lacing.
Smell - coffee and s'mores!
Taste - the coffee and s'mores are present, but the dark chocolate bitterness is the headliner!
Feel - an easy drinking, barrel aged stout!
Overall - would be great by a campfire; terrific offering!

one of the most interesting and delicious stouts i have ever tasted. pours a midnight black with a foamy tan head that goes down slowly. smells of campfire, smokey oak, tobacco, licorice and soil. flavor is equally complex, with the charred oak flavor dominating and the 7.2% alcohol being featured prominently. not smokey like a rauchbier, but a lightly burnt sort of vibe. tasting new things which each sip. mouthfeel is nice, huge body and just enough carbonation. this might be excellent on a nitro tap. my favorite beer of "stout month" at Vine Street Pub. overall just real complex and drinkable.

On tap at Vine Street Pub for Stout Month.
Some literature:
"Stoked Oat Bourbon Stout: Homebrew contest champion turned Mountain Sun Brewer, Scott Overdorf, masterfully balanced numerous malts, vanilla, and oak to create an intriguing barrel aged flavor.
Malt: Domestic Pale 2-Row, Munich, Honey Malt, Crystal 40L, Roasted Barley, Chocolate Malt, Special B, Smoked Malt, CaraPils, Wheat Malt
Hops: Perle, Fuggle
Adjunct: Toasted Oak Chips, Pure Vanilla
OG: 1.076%
ABV: 7.2%"
A - The beer was served in an 8oz milkshake pilsner glass. Pitch black with a nice brown head. Good retention and lacing.
S - A nice bourbon and oak aroma. Not overpowering. The back brings some roasted malts and chocolate.
T - Just like the nose the oak flavors are prevalent but not dominant or excessive. The mild bitterness, vanilla, coffee, chocolate, and roast flavors meld nicely. Overall good.
M - Nice medium body with decent carbonation.
D - Good.
Overall, an overall good beer. I'd gladly drink it again.

Had this one on tap last night, right before the barrel aged Nihilist. Poured a nice dark black color with a solid brown head. Aromas of vanilla extract, oak and roasted malt. Somewhat thin on the palate, with flavors of cocoa, vanilla and oak. Nothing special, but a solid effort.

Oh boy! Stout month! Let the good times rolll...
Vine Street pub
A dark brown/black pour with light ruby edges. A one finger off brown foam is presented and settles to a thin film. Looks good. A bit thin....
Vanilla dominates this stout. Not vanilla from the aging, a bit of added beans to the mix. That's about all I can detect. Vanilla. Perhaps some, some caramel. No oak.
No woodiness in the taste either. It's vanilla all the way. Too much for me. Not that this is bad. It's certainly a different take. A bit of a dry bite on the end, almost sour. Not my cup of tea...er, beer...but not bad either.

On-tap as part of Stout Month at Vine St Pub in Denver, CO.
A: Coffee black with a finger thick layer of caramel brown foam. Head retention is OK and patches of lace are left behind.
S: You can definitely smell the bourbon in this one. Coffee and chocolate aromas are there, but the bourbon and oak scents rule the day.
T: Certainly a change of pace. Without the oak and bourdon, this would probably be a pretty standard dry stout. Lots of coffee and espresso with a burnt bitterness. The bourbon; however, makes this a whole different animal. An alcoholic flavor of oak aged bourbon rides in the background throughout the experience. It lends distilled malt and an odd salty component. Finishes dry and burnt.
M: Medium body is rather dry. Carbonation level is right.
D: This beer was strangely pleasant. The flavor didn't do that much for me, but I kept going back to my glass. Certainly different. I'm not sure if I would order it again.

Put side by side with Young's Double Chocolate on Nitro the Stoked blows it away. Warm, very easy on the nose. Much more complex than say Breckenridge's Oak and easier to drink than the Java Porter. The finish is bacony, yep that's right it finishes up with a rich smokey goodness that calls for a good quality Breakfast buritto.

Near black color with a thick brown head. Good retention and lacing.
Very oaky with chocolate, oats, vanilla and some bourbon. A mix of American and European malts with mostly English hops.
Flavor is vanilla, oats and chocolate underlined by a complex malt variety. Hops present, but soft and faint.
Very thick and silky body with Belgian-like carbonation.
Good example of an oaked stout. I would like to see a little more hops or some bitter molasses to oppose the vanilla.
