On tap at the Southern Sun into a nonic glass. Reviewed from notes dated February 13, 2016.

A-The beer is nice looking. A short tan head hangs around for a while and leaves a bit of clingy lacing on the glass. Color is deep, dark brown...nearly black. I can see few bubbles in there.

S-The aroma is nicely minty and chocolaty, but unlike many mint beers this one doesn't smell artificial or overpowering. The dark chocolate flavor is also mild but persistent and there is a little hint of lactic sweetness in there. It smells like a Thin Mint, I guess.

T-The taste is pretty similar to the smell. There is a nice blend of mint chocolate and smooth lactose/milk stout flavors going on. Hints of roasted barley add some complexity without distracting too much from the main, minty attraction.

M-The body is a bit of a let down, but not awful. It is lighter with mellow carbonation that is somewhat prickly on my palate.

O-This is a solid beer. As much as I can get down on a box of Thin Mints, I have never been a huge fan of mint chocolate stouts, but this one is worth a pint (though probably not two in a sitting).

a cool beer, definitely smells like a thin mint, no doubt about the name, but it is odd in some ways too. it has an almost red color to it in the right light, thin and weird looking for a beer named a stout, although the head and foam are just fine. moderate spearmint or peppermint smell, tame and sweet, with some dark chocolate and potential lactose swirling around. first sip put the nose to shame though, its way more flavorful than it is aromatic, by a long shot. mint and cocoa both, and that oreo cookie outside are plentiful. its not too sweet, but it does linger, almost stuck in the teeth, almost demanding milk. a pint is real drinkable, but im not real sure how drinkable three would be. that said, it is smooth and rich enough, without over-decandent-ing me. not a great food beer, its almost gross with chicken wings, and easily dominates a salad. better as a standalone, but a well made beer. it seems stout month just keeps getting better each and every year, and i am glad they put this one together. i will probably order another when the time comes. makes me want a joint...

A - The beer pours a muddy dark brown color, not black. A nice creamy brown head, with good retention and lacing.

S - A great nose with a nice mix of mint character along with roasted malt, chocolate, and cocoa. Excellent nose. Very pleasant.

T - The beer starts with a mild mix of chocolate and roasted malt flavors. The middle of the beer brings a mild bitterness from the hops and the emergence of the mint. The beer finishes with a nice mint flavor to complement the roast and bitterness well.

M - Medium bodied with good carbonation.

D - Very easy to drink.

Overall, this was a very good beer. I am glad to have been around to try it. Given the chance I would surely buy it again.

On tap at the Vibe Street Pub for stout month, apparently this has mint and cocoa powder. Dark black color, decent head. Smells slightly like chocolate and mint. The taste is spot on thin mint cookies. This really tastes like a mint chocolate cookie stout. Impressive.

One of six stouts we shared last night at the Vine Street Pub during Stout Month. This one tasted exactly like it sounds--like a thin mint cookie straight from the fridge. Easily the favorite for all three of us last night. Aromas of cocoa powder, mint and roasted malt. Medium bodied, balanced and delicious. Dark chocolate, thin mint cookies and roasted malt.

I had this on a nitro tap and wonder if this affected the taste as much as the feel. I didn't have a normal tap sample, so I really wouldn't know.
A dark brown pour, just about reddish black. Chocolate malt looking head. Rich and creamy.
This beer is suppose to resemble a mint chocolate cookie from those scouts who are girls. I can detect a bit of mint in the nose. Along with some plum, cocoa and slight coffee.
Served cold, and I should have waited a bit longer to start drinking, b/c the mint in the taste wasn't really there until the end. For that matter, not much of the other aromas either. Sure, some dark chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. I just wonder if the nitro changed it a bit.
Very smooth feel. A slight bite at the end, and that's where the mint comes in.
