On Nitro at Vine Street Pub for Stout Month.

Some literature on the beer:
"Bogg's Coconut Cream Stout: Co-Champion of our first Stout Month homebrew competition; this stout is very delicate, yet adamantly cocnutty. Boulder native Adam Boggs wowed us with his conglomeration of aroma and flavor: roasted barley is balanced by lactose, coconut, and vanilla.
Malt: Domester Pale 2-Row, Wheat Malt, Crystal 120L, Chocolate Malt, Black Patent, Roasted Barley, Flaked Wheat, Carafa 3
Hops: Fuggle
Adjunct: Organic Toasted Coconut, Organic Coconut Juice, Lactose, Pale Vanilla Extract.
OG: 1.057
5.25% ABV"

A - The beer arrived in an 8ox milkshake pilsner glass. Littlle brown head with no retention or lacing. Pitch black in color.

S - Pretty let down with the lack of aroma. No detectable malt character or coconut or vanilla or anything.

T/M - Similar to the nose I was let down a bit by the lack of character considering the summary and ingredients. The beer starts with a mild malt character: roasted barley, vanilla, coffee, chocolate. The beer develops to a creamier character and fills the palette but never seems to fully get there. Very little coconut flavor. The beer finishes dry and mild.

D - Slightly better than average.

Note: This review was a re-post from my former account, jmkratt, which was hacked and I lost all my reviews...sorry for the redundancy.

Had this one on nitro-tap with my wife last night at Vine Street Pub as part of stout month. Hugely disappointing, as we were assured it was brewed with X amount of smoked coconut, yet all we got was coffee. Creamy, black, nice tan head, chocolate, light bodied and completely devoid of coconut.
