Can poured into a BarrelHouse Brewing Co pint glass
A: Pours hazy golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and laces nicely.
S: Tropical fruit, pineapple (both juicy and slightly under ripe), zesty citrus, spicy pine, biscuity malt, and a little caramel sweetness.
T: The first hit is resinous spicy piney, but then the tropical side opens up to a wave of pineapple, plus hints of mango, apricot, guava, some zesty citrus, lemon lime, tangerine, and grapefruit, biscuity malt, and a touch of caramel sweetness.
M: Medium body, prickly carbonation, and a little hop burn.
O: In my experience, it can be a bit tricky to get the best out of pineapple and Sultana/Denali hops by themselves, let alone together, so props to BH for taking on that challenge. That said, this one can bite you on the tongue. But if you give it a little time, the full hit of pineapple comes through quite nicely. I think with a couple little tweaks to soften it up this could be a real winner. As it stands now it's still a cool DIPA with some kick.
