Kong is an extremely aromatic Hazy IPA made with some our favorite hops: Cashmere, Citra, and Mosaic. The aroma profile of these hops in conjunction with our favorite New England Yeast strain has produced a Double Hazy bursting with Juicy flavors.

Pours golden yellow with nice white foamy cap and bright citrus notes. Really good DIPA bursting with bright citrus notes and poured on draught at Barrel House in Paso Robles.

Should call it a “cloudy IPA”, as it’s not that hazy. Very dark for a hazy, with gold orange hues. Mildly citrusy scents, a bit malty. Taste is slightly juicy. Not too strong. Light to medium bodied, crisp, strong enough. Thinking I may have let this age too long, will review accordingly.

Fruity but not too fruity (tastes kinda like guava). Really hoppy. Mouth feel is a little flat but smooth like Sunny D. Great beer!

Can poured into a BarrelHouse Brewing Co pint glass
A: Pours hazy golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.
S: Lots of ripe melon, light underlying tropical and stone fruit, a little citrus, a bit floral, a hint of pine, wheat, maybe some spicy yeasty notes, slightly toasty bready malt, and caramel honey sweetness.
T: Big time melon leads the way, followed by tropical and stone fruit, papaya, peach, apricot, and a hint of under ripe pineapple, a little citrus, tangerine and lemon lime, a touch of pine, faint floral and earthy herbal notes, chewy wheat, ever so slightly toasty bready malt, and caramel honey sweetness.
M: Just a touch on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation, somewhat soft on the palate,
O: I really tried to keep my personal biases out of this rating as much as possible, but... Really wasn't expecting that melon to take over like it did. I've heard there's a notable difference between trying it on tap vs from a can so I'll keep a look out for a chance to do that.
