tasty gose done with real cantaloupe, cool fruit for a beer like this, the salt makes it pop, almost like prosciutto does when you wrap it around a melon slice for an appetizer, this is juicy but dry, flavorful but also well restrained, and overall really quite good. i wish it had a little more carbonation, head retention, and overall life to it in the glass, but other than that, its lovely. blonde and almost too light looking, real pale, not even that wheaty to me, more pils type grain in support of the obvious fresh and ripe cantaloupe. the salt is full of minerals and its really drying against the sweet fruit, a great back and forth here, more melon than salt, but both are obvious in the context of such an otherwise light brew. the lactic souring is only middle of the road, not out of proportion, and its not quite super clean, but its lemony and flavorful and what it does bring in terms of taste is flattering to the rest of the brew. the body is impossibly light, the acidity and the salt make it fast finishing, and if it had more bubbles it would really be one of the more unique and memorable beers of the summer, but it sags a little for the flavors in my opinion, despite the light body. still, this is great, an obvious but not overstated expression of real cantaloupe in the beer, taste thick and pulpy but drinks light and easy. one of the better beers ive ever had with melon, and still just a little refinement away from elite. druthers has some cool stuff on tap this fall!
