Poured from a pint can into a pint glass. Off-white two finger head sits atop an opaque, apricot colored body of beer. Nice lacing as the beer is consumed. Some decent citrusy hoppy notes on the nose. The first sip has that grapefruit flavor out of the gate, followed by the intense hops flavor and bitterness, which does a great job of masking the 10% abv. Definitely a tongue tingler! This is an excellent example of this extreme NE TIPA, Have two of these in one sitting at your own risk!

a nice meaty one done with some simcoe, amarillo, and cryo citra, a ton of flavor, freshness, and character. a lot of times when ipa gets into this huge strength range, i get turned off, usually they are sweet, hot, and at times overly intense without being all that dynamic, but thats not the case here and this is layered and refined for also being enormous. a little color here, not quite as dark as amber but not totally pale either. its a sign of the balance to come, just a bit of sweetness from it in aroma and flavor but it keeps the hops in check, and as bold as this is, the hops dont totally run away with it, which makes it oddly drinkable for what it is. the other are where these usually go south is with stressed yeast, under pitched or just overwhelmed, but the fermentation here is thorough and tidy, and this doesnt linger the way a lot of them do, some oils from the hops left on the palate is all. some spiciness from the amarillo hits first, juicy lemon and orange notes from the citra, and fresh pine and juniper from simcoe, a dankness to all of it but also an obvious freshness, a candied intensity, and only middle of the road bitterness for the style, its also pretty modest on the alcohol presence, not fusel or burning, just a touch warm. high carbonation is nice and this take on an almost creamy feel, the grain fleshing it out well. some honey and resin to the hop profile as it warms, gin, sage, and a sort of high alpine botanical vibe as it moves along, less of the citra to me. really tasty though, pungent but balanced, among the better beers we had in here...
