Pours a reddish amber with a two-finger tan head.
Wonderful aromas of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, raisons, and blackberries.
The taste is even better, with most of the aromas ramped up plus some new ones. I get caramel, molasses, burnt sugar, raisons, prunes, and some cinnamon all over a base of fresh brown bread. Coming in at the middle and building through the finish, earthy and peppery hop bitterness keeps this from becoming too sweet and cloying.
Medium to medium-light bodied with fine carb gives a fairly frothy feel. Finishes slightly sticky but as noted above not too sweet.
Overall, fantastic winter warmer. Big and bold flavors that hit all the right notes for the style. The earthy and peppery hops complement so well and help reset the palate for each sip.
