This beer has a sweetness and flavors to it that make it taste like a chocolate and nougat candy bar. It has a dark brown color and minimal tan head. It is almost too sweet for my taste, but a decent offering. Originally rated 2022. 2nd 7-31-2023 20 IBUs.

Taster at Backwoods PDX . Dark brown pour, head fades fast. Aroma is vanilla, chocolate, nutty. Taste is sweet, chocolate and vanilla, but kind of weak overall

On tap at Prefunk; mostly opaque brown/black with minor off-khaki head lacing…caramel, nougat, roast, espresso, chocolate, peanuts…definitely carries a candy bar-type of flavor profile, sweetness nose, definite impressions of chocolate-covered peanuts…just not as big as advertised.

A Tavour Treat. Pours a dark brown color with a foamy head that lasts quite a while. Aroma is sweet; caramel, chocolate and vanilla. Taste is also sweet; kind of nutty and a slight alcoholic warmth. Smooth and creamy.

modeled on a snickers, cool, but also, what the heck, seems like all these guys do is flavored beers, they have a good reputation on the streets, but im wondering where the drink more than one beers are, they are all so dessert forward and novelty, not my favorite, although i still couldnt resist trying this, even though i knew a pint would be more than i wanted, i choked it down. more brown than black, a little viscous and shiny in the glass glossy, with a short light brown head. it smells like caramel sauce, almost buttery with the browned sugar, light vanilla, some milk chocolate and dark chocolate both, must be some lactose in this, and the peanut aspect doesnt seem totally authentic, but its all agreeable in its candy sweetness, some light roast and middle malt character behind all the added stuff. it tastes like it smells, not too much peanut which is good, this is the most artificial aspect so less is more. i think the flavor does approximate milk chocolate and nougat pretty well, and the mission is accomplished overall, this is just more flavored than it needs to be, its over the top, and its not just the sugar. they left out a big bitter roasted low end, which works for the candy bar but leaves this a bit unbalanced and without the depth i want in a stout, and it could have all been fermented down a little bit more i reckon. smooth and full feeling, on the palate a little too long, but at least its not in my burps. you have to want this sort of massively adjunct forward thing, but its well done for what it is. would love to see some basics from these guys come through...

Canned 12/20/21. Poured at 56°. Body is a dark brown with ruby see-through, good clarity, and a fast fizzy beige head that disappears quickly leaving a small island of micro dots; thin ring at best; spots of lace on agitation; no legs. Aroma is caramel malt, some peanuts as it warms. Weak chocolate flavor; vanilla; some peanut butter flavor as it warms. Light body; fizzy moderate plus carbonation; no warmth from 7.2% abv; light feeling for an oatmeal stout and the abv. Overall, not much to recommend here - feels watery and tastes artificial.

Got this one in a tall can four pack, chilled and poured into an imperial pint glass.
Look: dark brown, almost black, nice thick tan creamy head with initial lacing that dissipated slowly as we drank.
Smell: sweet roast, malt, a little pine (very faint)
Taste: bitter roast, followed by some sweet roast, malt and small nutty notes that you have to really reach for, faint notes of caramel on the back palate that linger but dissipate quickly
Feel: light mouthfeel, nice tickle of carbonation that linger a while.
The description of the beer is “ no candy bars were harmed in the making of this beer, it was carefully crafted to taste like your favorite chocolate, peanut, nougat and caramel bar”. They could had stopped at “no candy bars” and it would had described this toasty sweet stout with a low ABV. If you want a light sweet stout, this is a great beer. Their description does not even come close.
We love Backwoods btw... their Pecan Pie Porter is amazing, this one on the other hand fell short of their bar, so to speak.
Cheers everyone!
