Deep dark brown where no light passes through even the edge of the glass. Small beige head that settles quickly to rim bubbles. No lacing.
Dark burnt malt aroma which shows up like black coffee. I was told there is NO coffee in this beer.
The taste mimics the smell—dry and espresso-like. Not quite smooth but not harsh either. The body is typical for an Irish Stout but with an elevated carbonation (no nitro) level. The finish burnt malt bitter. I never get any chocolate from the taste of the smell. Long burnt bitter aftertaste.
