A hop-forward IPA with Nelson Sauvin, Idaho 7, and Mosaic hops. Named after James the cat, who lords over the brewery and anyone who enters his domain. Made with lager malt and a ton of oats so that the hops can shine through, this beer is bursting with hop flavor and aroma. The main flavor is overripe cantaloupe upfront with a pleasant piney-grapefruit in the back.

Taster at FLoT. Hazy orange golden, wispy head, lacing. Light citrusy aroma with floral notes. Taste adds tropical fruit, melon. Light bitterness and a touch dry.

Absolutely beautiful hazy beer, with excellent head production and retention. Opaque and a lovely light orange color.
Mild nose. Pineapple, guava, mango, papaya.
Super smooth. Pineapple, melon, mango, mint, tangerine. I'm a little disappointed the guava notes don't make it onto the palate. Still, it's a delicious IPA.

This one pours a fairly hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like big juicy cantaloupe melon, grapefruit, pineapple, and orange rind.
This is really, really good stuff - it's a perfect mix of spicy and piney hop bitterness along with a big blast of tropical fruits, melon, pineapple, and some dry orange.
This is light bodied, and super crisp and clean, with a great drinkability to it.
I like this one a lot - I'm glad to see Rushing Duck is still making great hoppy beers. I remember chasing stuff like War Elephant back in the day, and this brings me back to that feeling.

A: Lemon meringue color with sizeable ivory head.
S: Exactly as described with cantaloupe sweetness backed by sweet woodsy-earth of pine.
M: Just enough oats to give it a slightly creamy body, but not take to OH's level where it can get mealy. Brash acidity.
T: Down-to-earth spicy, herbal, and floral hop profile. Sour finger lime citrus. Lemony cotton candy. Hibiscus tea. Gooseberries. Lots of pleasant pine sap.

16 oz. pour at the brewery. It pours a hazy, golden tangerine color with a half finger of creamy, milk-white head and a thick coating of lacing inside the glass. It has a fragrant nose: lemon, tangerine, melon, onion, pine needles, and floral hops. The taste opens more dank and bitter than expected although there is abundant lemon peel, cantaloupe, onion, and grass, along with a hint of oat sweetness that becomes more apparent as the glass warms. There are also strong resinous pine notes. The bill of Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, and Idaho 7 hops bites hard. This ale bursts with flavor! It has a creamy, full mouthfeel with moderate, pleasant carbonation, and it drinks easily at 7.2% ABV. Overall, I'm glad to have finally tried King James as I missed the first batch and feared it was a one-off. It's a superb American IPA; one of the best Rushing Duck has brewed. It's a great candidate for canning.
