500ml capped/waxed bottle served in a tall stem tulip. No date that I can see. Received from @MacMalt as part of NBS BIF #14.
Pours a murky, muddy brown, with a small flash of carbonation and then almost no retention, a half-dime sized island floating around and zero lacing. Although there is a little active carbonation bubbling up from time to time. Smell is super boozy (like I yelled "WHOAH"), behind that is a ton of figs/dates/toffee (very much reminds me of sticky toffee pudding). Something like dark roasted walnuts -- nutty and bitter and almost burnt -- that comes to mind. I think I get some anise, but I'm not so sure.
Taste is also intense alcohol up front, and then leans hard into the toffee and dates and dark roasted walnuts. I'm more confident that I get some black licorice here.
Mouthfeel is thick, almost chewy, and fairly still. This is a very interesting and also very good beer.

Reviewed on date of release. It pours a dark brown-cola color with a thin, light ecru-colored head and modest lacing. On the nose there is distinct bourbon, brown sugar, caramel, and buttered brown bread. It's quite an aroma. Wow, what a flavor! It opens with strong sweetness from bourbon, brown sugar, caramel, maple syrup, black cherry, plum, port wine, and earthy tobacco notes. It's delicious! There is little hop bitterness. The alcohol is very strong. It's thick and creamy with fairly lively carbonation, and there is no escaping the enormous 17.6% ABV. Drink it slowly or, better yet, share it with friends. This ale is vintage Rushing Duck; they release huge, delicious ales every year for their anniversary. I'm grateful to have enjoyed such an amazing Barleywine.
