A new take on an old style. Saison’s originated in the South of Belgium and are famous for the distinctive fruity, spicy notes given off from the yeast. They also tend to be lighter, effervescent, and quenching. Bauli Saison is all of that, but adds a unique twist. We’ve added White Peppercorns, Coriander, and Kaffir Lime Leaves to the beer to enhance the spice flavors naturally produced by the yeast as well as adding a distinct citrus flavor to make it a lighter beer on the palate but still providing tons of flavor.

A: The beer is slightly hazy dark golden yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that died down, but consistently left a short head covering the surface and lots of specks of bubbles down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of Kaffir Lime leaves are present in the smell with spicy notes from the yeast and other spices.
T: The taste is spicier than the smell, having flavors of coriander and peppercorn to pair with the Kaffir Lime leaves.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and somewhat dry on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I found this saison to be very enjoyable—the additional spices used in the ingredients really complemented the spices from the yeast.

Excellent rocky head with a decent amount of retention. A lightly clouded, tawny golden liquid with some streaks and spots of lacing on the glass. A light covering remains as I drink. No carbonation evident.

Nose puts forth Pilsner malt with a bit of honey and faint lemongrass notes. This underpins a wheat malt twang, with a dinner roll like, bready sweetness. A bit of dough .There is some soap and Belgian funk. Hops are somewhat floral with a mild spiciness. A touch of pepper and alcohol add a bit of bite.

Taste is deep with funk and soap. Dry and quenching with lots of refreshment in each swallow. Light malt body carries grains and faint honey. Faint white grapes and lemongrass. Wheat malt as well. All of these are supporting players however. The real stars are the band of funk and dryness. Herbal hops and dryness are the signature flavors after the funk and soap. They clean your mouth and palate like nobody's business. A bit of crackers linger to settle the scrubbing of you mouth by this very old school take on hoppiness.

Feel is medium light in weight, with a mild, but just right carbonation and a crisp swallow.

A great summer quaffer. Top tier marks for the refreshing personality and drinkability. While the abv is a little high for a session brew, I'd happily have it on had while enjoying a hot day in front of the grill with good friends. Solid brew.

Poured from growler into Rushing Duck Belgian glass. It pours a turbid apricot with a finger of bright white head and lacing. The smell is classic Saison: banana, clove, coriander, lemon, and Belgian yeast. It's really fragrant. Wow, really good! There is banana sweetness up front followed by lime, clove, coriander, pepper and yeast. It finishes with a lot of pepper and spice; crisp and bitter. The lime makes it more citrusy than the average Saison. It has a very pleasant mouth feel with lively carbonation. With a moderate ABV of 6%, it's very quaffable. Overall, Bauli is very good. I'm drinking it super fresh which adds to the enjoyment. It will be canned next week and hopefully I'll have the opportunity to compare the canned version against a fresh growler. Rushing Duck exudes quality in everything it brews!

A: Lustrous, newly smelted gold. Small sized ivory head. Inconsistent lacing.

S: Herbaceous and green smelling. Thick citrus aroma. Hint of bubblegum.

M: Quite light and refreshing. Slick but has a drying and tart finish.

T: Rush of coriander fading to lime and citrus. Spicy and drying peppercorn on finish. Maintains sweet fruitiness throughout with a limeade kick; well balanced and recommended.
