Nimptopsical is a celebration of all things malt. This beer is created with 5 different varieties of malt to produce an incredibly complex flavor profile that yield flavors of toffee, burnt sugar, toasted bread, and overripe fruit. Finished with a healthy portion of East Kent Golding hops from England, the beer has a balanced bitterness and a subtle herbal/fruity hop character. At 7.3%ABV, Nimptopsical gives you a gentle warming that demands respect. The name “Nimptopsical,” comes from Ben Franklin’s 1737 book, “The Drinker’s Dictionary” as a synonym used to describe someone that has had too much to drink.

On draught at the brewery. Served in a shaker glass. It pours a cloudy, amber-orange color with a half finger cap of creamy, milk-white foam and thick, elegant lacing. The smell is sedate; mostly sweet malts. Its taste redeems: bready malt, burnt toast, and lots of toffee to balance the underlying earthy bitterness. There is also just a hint of citrus deep in the background. It is a mellow - but flavorful - ale. The mouth feel is very plush and creamy, and it drinks below the 7.3% ABV. Overall, Nimptopsical is a delightful English Strong Ale. Rushing Duck hadn't brewed it for many years and I'm grateful to have the chance to savor it.

I MISS this beer so much! RD hasn't had it in their regular rotation for a while now. One of my all time favorite beers. Big, strong, and malty. This is the beer that got me hooked on craft beers.

I tap at The Gate, Brooklyn.

A malt bomb in the vein of Boddington or Tetley.

But, this a big butt, for some reason it was decided to do smoke. It is over the top and I am pushing this pint away.
