Imperial S'mores Sweet Stout. We brewed this dark and luscious stout with graham crackers in the mash and marshmallow and cocoa in the kettle before conditioning atop Madagascar Vanilla, roasted cocoa nibs and cinnamon. Dessert in a glass.

DATE: February 11, 2022... OCCASION: Olympics watching on an unseasonably warm night, I have been looking forward to reviewing this beer, having sampled it a few weeks ago... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter... pours a beautifully active black body that frames a sizzling light brown half-finger of consistent foam, before settling out to a brown halo... my goodness, the aroma's complexity: toasted graham cracker, sweet sugars, light lactose, toasted bread, and vanilla extract... a dessert for sure, a thick, arresting scent that smells more of a packaged good than an outdoor fire... chewy, thick, viscous and smooth, a flexing, soft finish that stays long after its sip... for its weight, it doesn't hint at its 12-plus ABV... a nice chocolate flavor overlays the toasted malts, sweet sugars, and light licorice, with a warm, coating fudge that lingers long past its sipping... the combination of strength, flavor, and boldness, this is a winning beer that demands a slow draw...

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a half finger high dense and dark tan head that has very good retention properties as it settled down a bit but consistently left a quarter finger high head covering the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of vanilla are present in the nose along with notes of dark malts and hints of cocoa malts.
T: The taste has flavors of dark malts and a little associated bitterness with notes of vanilla beans and hints of cocoa nibs.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: It seems like the taste of this beer could use a little more balancing of flavors and sweetness to really make it a dessert beer. What it did have it going for it was that the beer did a very good job at hiding any traces of alcohol.
