(16 oz can, THANKS A LAT., 11/24/2020; can from a 4-pack... poured into a fat tulip)
L: dark, chocolate-brown liquid; finger-high, dark khaki-colored, loose, fleeting foam... thin collar barely holds; scant lace
S: aromas of a predominantly chocolate-tinged, roasty stout//porter; little overt mint notes, with only a hard sniff revealing a defined hint... perhaps a sense of 'thin mint' cookie as it settles... decent overall intensity; subtle, yet inviting
T: mint immediately up front, with the toasty, cookie-like chocolate replacing its do-mint-ance in the finish; at first, almost peppermint patty, but decidedly 'thin mint' in the aftertaste; not overly nor notably sweet, however, more coffee-ish, roasty-near-burnt grain flavors lingering... the vanilla provides background color and perhaps enhances the cooling menthol element... again, for a milk stout, the (lactose) sweetness is either quite mellow or very astutely-balanced within a supporting role... chocolate milk note builds and pervades the aftertaste little more than halfway through
F: fills the palate with a bouncy round edges; swift, subtle, silky slickness in the finish... the roast and mint provide a cool tingle in the afterglow; alcohol ghostly in presence, fueling that glow... fades away quietly in each sip; maybe a mild residual stickiness layering on the sides, between the teeth and cheeks
O: surprisingly well-balanced, no featured flavor overtaking each other nor overpowering the base beer, which has a lovely bold malty base with sedate rivulets of roast woven in... was gifted the 4-pack; thought of re-gifting or trading the other 3, but I'll definitely keep at least one more for myself (1719)
