This beer pours a cranberry color with an off white head that evades capture in the glass. The nose has some grape and vanilla, but is overwhelmed by the peanut butter.

The taste is a bit more balanced, with the apple and grape flavors forward, but the big dollop of peanut butter is a bit distracting from the sour components expected from a sour.

The mouthfeel is medium, and a bit softer carbonation than kettle sours typically deliver.

This was definitely extreme, to the point that it tried to do more than it should have, IMHO. Still worthy of a try, and definitely something outside of my beer nerd comfort zone.

A: Pours a murky opaque deep purplish ruby red in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate bright purple + garnet red + ruby red + deep purple colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall fizzy foamy pinkish white head that reduces to a large patch of thin film covering approximately 90% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of sweet and slightly tart Concord grape jelly + grape jelly donut filling. Underneath there are moderate aromas of peanut butter and light to moderate aromas of bready (white bread) + slightly sour wheat malts with moderate amounts of lactose-like + granulated sugar sweetness. Light aromas of vanilla and lacto lemon citrus tartness.

T: Upfront there are light flavors of bready (white bread) + doughy + slightly sour wheat malts with moderate amounts of lactose-like + granulated sugar sweetness. That is followed by light flavors of lacto lemon citrus tartness and light flavors of vanilla. Finally there are moderate flavors of peanut butter and slightly stronger than moderate flavors of sweet and slightly tart Concord grape jelly + grape jelly donut filling. Moderate amounts of lingering Concord grape jelly and tartness.

M: Medium bodied with slightly lighter than moderate amounts of carbonation. Moderate amounts of acidic prickliness.

O: Drinks pretty easily with well hidden alcohol and moderate amounts of tartness with a decent amount of acidic prickliness in the mouthfeel. Enjoyable though a touch one dimensional.

The can pours a deep ruby color with no visible effervescence.
The aroma is not beer-like. The fruit nose is overwhelmed by peanut butter. Yowza.
The flavor is of Concord grape with a bit of peanut butter. The brew is not sour enough to be enjoyable for me. -just too sweet ( and a lot of PB).
The mouthfeel is flat with low carbonation.
I appreciate the opportunity to try this. I like the brewer’s other offerings more.

Appearance: Pours cherry colored with a thin pink film that fades quickly; a bit of spotty lacing

Smell: Concord grape jelly dominates but the peanut butter tone emerges as the beer warms

Taste: Tastes like a sour apple Jolly Rancher with the Concord grape building; the peanut butter is an accent, but not a significant contributor; the sweetness of the donuts and the tartness from the sour fruits blend in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with low carbonation; somewhat puckery

Overall: I haven't gone back to see my ratings on all of the Extreme beer box beers but if this isn't my least favorite, it is close

This was interesting. The nose stood out as the most positive component. It really did nail down that sense of peanut butter AND jelly together. Look was not too enticing. Flavor was pretty good, but went in a mildly syrupy direction. Mouthfeel was not holding any carbonation and basically finished a bit dry. Some warm acid feel afterward.

Extreme Beer selection shared with 6 members of brew club. Probably the most anticipated beer in the box from our group based on the description and the fact none of us had tried anything like this before. Turns out that might've been a good thing as none of us finished it. Thick and heavy pour with little head, extremely sweet on the overwhelming side, and the peanut butter flavor comes across as a chemical hit. Oh what could've been just wasn't very good.

16 ounce can from the Extreme Beer Box. Poured into a snifter glass.

Cherry red and red grape color blend capped with a rim of light pink foam, no lacing. It has the sour look.

It smells like peanut butter and apple-grape jelly.

Sour apple jolly rancher, red grape, sweet French cruller donuts with peanut butter make the flavor profile.

Funky, sour, sweet, dry. Light and pucker feel.

Extreme indeed. It ladders up after the first sip and delivers as advertised.

Really good mashup of flavors. Just a lot going on with the nose, the body, the mouthfeel, and the finish. One of the most enjoyable beers in the box.

Joel did not like this one but Katie, Jackie, and Chrissy said it was their favorite. Things people said: "it's like eating a pb&j and then throwing it up right away", "it's like an uncrustable with sour patch kids", "it's a communion beer", "there's a yeastyness to it".

Not much of a sour, not sure what I’d consider it but I would definitely say it delivered on the PB&J promise. Grape forward, peanut butter finish.

This is not for me. A mashup of flavors that don't seem to play well together.
Pours ruby reddish with almost no head. Aroma is sweet, grapes and vanilla. Taste is sweet, grape, vanilla, a touch of smokiness and they're kinda all over the place. The grape, vanilla are both powerful and seem to fight after each sip. I don't get any of the peanut butter, except perhaps in the smokiness, maybe a roasted nut tone. Feel is okay, a bit drying. Overall, it is something, but that something isn't for me.

Definitely lives up to its name. Tastes like a toasted PBJ sandwich. A bit thick. Worth a try if you don’t mind a sweeter beer.

Strange, by all accounts. Flavorful, damn right. Good, you bet. Flavor profile resembles the result of a collaboration between Martinelli's (concord grape) and Jif peanut butter.

I like the dark purple color and pinkish purple head. When poured from the can into a snifter, the head was brief and the lacing very light. The smell was a distinctly of peanut butter and a bit of jelly. The flavor though definitely favored the jelly and was quite sweet. The feel was a bit flat. I did enjoy it but not my cup of tea.

Can’t believe I liked this one as much as I did. It triggered places and beers from other experiences I’d had.
Like sipping Dogfish Head Distillery’s Peanut Butter Vodka.
Like an amped-up DuClaw Sweet Baby Jesus at the brewery.
Like PB&J samiches after school in 5th grade.
The goo in the final pour was a bonus little charge despite the kinda grossness of it.
I thought it a really nice effort and a highlight of the Awesome Extreme Beer Box 2022.

The color is intriguing. Dark cherry color. No head. Smell is vanilla and sugar. Tastes like peanut butter and grape jelly, but so sickeningly sweet absolutely flat. It is gross and will be dumped.
