Canned on 8/8/23; consumed on 11/17/23
Pours a clear, deep copper body capped with two finger of fluffy, off-white foam; solid head retention leaves a slight layer of cap, sizable, frothy collar, and generous spatter of spotty lacing dotting down the walls of the glass.
Aromas of brown sugar meld into notes of brown bread as building caramel malts take on undertones of autumnal spice over time.
Taste brings burnt toast against a smooth, caramel malt balance, with accents of cherrywood and sweet tea over the mid-palate phasing through minerality on the back end as fruity yeast eases past the swallow.
Mouthfeel features a medium-light body and a choppy fluff of moderate-high carbonation; dry textures are briefly taut, maintaining a slight crispness into the back end and a decent ‘snap’ on the finish.
Veering toward the usual overindulgence common to stateside interpretations, the darker malt toning sees an intermittent excess of sweetness over more tempered breadiness; a more passive, underlying roast keeps this one drinkable.

Pours nicely, clear amber, off white head good cap sticks around, no lacing.
The nose is sweet, grain, nice toast character; some light floral leaning hops.
Taste is sweet, not horribly so but it is noticeable, but toasty bread like as well, grain husk bite; light grassy hops on the finish. It sort of combines with the toast character and give an almost overly toasted taste to it.
Medium body but quite smooth and drinkable, there is some lingering residual sweetness; I welcome bitter but on this beer it just seems out of place and detracting, still finishes quite clean.

DATE: September 30, 2022... OCCASION: another fall week ends with football, Rings of Power, and a fest bier... GLASSWARE: glass mug... pours a translucent amber orange body whose head sloughs off to a subtle, off-white smear... sweet caramel, toffee, baked bread, light spice, and soft floral notes... a medium-bodied lager that reflects both its ABV and its aroma--a slick, smooth, sweet immediacy, with little effervescence... its malty character is suggested in its thick, tea-like quality... the profile is biscuit, toffee, and caramel... herbal hints of flowers, lemon grass, and sharp ping.... a serviceable fest that drinks easy and gives a bit of the malty sweetness that the genre requires... not beyond the expectation of the style...
