Appearance - Pours pitch black with a hint of cola brown edging where light can penetrate. Cocoa powder colored, finger width head that displays good retention before settling to a thin, consistent layer of suds. Lacing in the form of broken lines and lots of mall spotting.
Smell - Chocolatey with lesser coffee and malt roast. Fair earth. Hint of toffee sweetness.
Taste - Coffee roast upfront with a hint of dark chocolate and caramel. Sweet toffee undertone makes it's debut mid-taste, then some earthy bitterness comes through. Aftertaste lingers with coffee roast and earthiness, chocolate and hints of that toffee.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with light carbonation. Silky, creamy texture with a dry, easy drinking finish.
Overall - One heck of a tasty foreign stout. It's something I'll be looking to buy more often.
