Berliner Weisse Style Ale with Blackberry, Vanilla, and Cinnamon.

This berliner weisse style ale was hit with the addition of blackberry puree, and then finished on Madagascar vanilla beans and cinnamon, giving it a nuanced finish with a bunch of fruit up front.

Pours a cloudy light purple with a massive, fluffy pink head that slowly settles to a ring and leaves no lacing. Smells of tart blackberries, slight sourness, wheat and lemon. Tastes of tart blackberries, tart raspberries, lemon, wheat, a hint of lactose sweetness and a bit of vanilla. Really cannot pick out any cinnamon even knowing that it is there. Light side of medium bodied, medium carbonation, mild acidity and sourness.

A: Pours a murky milky purplish red in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate ruby red + dark pink + bluish purple colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall fizzy sudsy foamy pinkish white head that slowly reduces to a medium to large sized patch of slightly mottled very thin film covering a little more than 75% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of fresh blackberries over the top of light to moderate aromas of slightly sour wheat malts with a light amount of lactose sweetness and lactic lemon tartness. Light to moderate aromas of vanilla along with a hint of cinnamon.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of slightly sour wheat malts with a light amount of lactose sweetness and lactic lemon tartness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of fresh blackberries and light flavors of vanilla and a hint of cinnamon. Minimal amounts of bitterness (if any) are present but there is a lingering tart blackberry flavors.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of acidic prickliness.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasant amount of tartness. Enjoyable with the lactose + vanilla + cinnamon successfully adding to the blackberry + base berliner weisse.
