Czech for "dark beer," Tmavé Pivo has become an industry go-to for beer. This dark lager has the crisp mouthful you're looking for in a lager, with a dark appearance and flavors of dark chocolate, roasted walnut, and a hint of black pepper from the Czech Saaz hops.

16 oz. can dated 12/8/22, stamped “Czech E Cheese”

Ebony color, mahogany highlights. A normal pour yields two fingers fine tan head. Full lacing curtains and surface cap.
Roasty bread, grass, yeast, ginger, pepper aromas.
Pepper, nuts, bitter chocolate, light char.
Crisp, well carbonated, easy drinking. Glad this local brewer jumped on the Czech lager bandwagon.

Picked up a four-pack from the brewery cooler on 3-22-24 for $11.99. Smudged canned date; consumed for review 4-17-24.

Beer poured dark brown with a very nice long lasting tan head.

Nose is of roasted malts with a touch of chocolate.

Taste is a roasted malt base with a smidge of smoke. Getting some chocolate in post sip aspirations. Finishes with a touch of black pepper sharpness that balances things nicely.

Mouthfeel is light bodied, soft, and refreshing.

Overall glad i decided to pick this up, good representation of the style.

16oz can, stange glass, and I can’t see a packaging date anywhere.

Very dark cola colored beer with a respectable two fingers of head.

Pumpernickel bread, rich, with chocolate and nutty undertones, and little bit of spicy sharpness.

Rich dark bread, almost chocolate syrup, though not real sweet. Nice hit of spicy hops, though bitterness is very low. Quite rich for a 5% lager.

Smooth, almost velvety, with balancing medium-low carbonation.

Very nice dark lager. Rich but balanced. Flavorful and nuanced.
