Inspired by our recent successes in the Heller bock style, we decided to give that treatment to our signature lager, Druid Pils South. Brewed with 100% local pilsner malt, hopped with Hallertau Mittlefruh and Tettenanger, we're getting flavors of toasted sourdough, pear, and freshly cracked pepper.

Picked up a 16 oz single from the Hot Spot cooler on NC-63 on 4-12-25 for $2.69. Canned 2-5-25; consumed 6-7-25. Cold stored since purchase.

Beer poured golden with a pretty good white head that dissipated quickly.

Nose has notes of baked bread and earthy hops.

Taste follows the nose as the malt base yields a touch of bread, the yeast brings some apple and pear, and the back end brings a balancing hop that yields some black pepper spiciness.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied but what i love about this is the silky-smooth creaminess with each sip.

Overall, this recipe has potential to be really good, but this version lacks the bread pop that makes this style.
