Calm Storm is the little brother to our other Baltic porter, Navigating Seas. Coming in at a lower ABV to be more approachable for everyone, the aroma is extremely welcoming with a blend of toffee and hazelnut. The flavors play incredibly well with this, giving us notes of medium roast coffee, milk chocolate, and a subtle hint of sweetness.

It’s definitely a dark storm.
I actually drank this on a bright day on the beach. Probably the only person to do so.
I oddly enough get notes of oak. A little burnt marshmallow. It’s not super in depth but I like it.

Picked up a 16 oz single from the Hot Spot cooler on NC-63 on 4-12-25 for $3.79. Canned 1-15-25; consumed 6-7-25. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured brown with a nice off-white head with the original pour.
Nose is coffee forward which is always nice in my world.
Taste is a light roasted malt taken over by the heavier coffee roast. Getting some nutty and toffee flavor midstream. Finishes with a style appropriate sweetness but is pretty balanced.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and creamy smooth.
Overall, this is pretty darn tasty, lots of flavor going on here.

It pours brown with a tan head. It has good head retention. There are chocolate flavors with low roast. There are some dark fruit elements that feature raisin. It has a smooth texture and a smooth finish.

Ultra clear light brown pour, somewhat opaque in the glass; rich, densely sudsy head, very long lasting; nice dense and compact fingers and flecks of foam mark the glass. Incredible aroma; rich toffee tones; moderately sweet undercurrent; roasted grain char; mocha. Good flavor if a tad weak; diluted coffee with fire roasted tree nuts; great overall bitterness, a muted but well-balanced with the other tastes. Medium-heavy mouthfeel; smooth.
Overall, this is a decent enough Baltic porter, but if it is the little brother to the brewery's other Baltic porter, I'd really like to try that one. I suspect it might be more to the style. But, being a junior version of a Baltic porter (I guess), this is pretty good.
