Look: Cloudy medium orange with red hues on the pour, which generates a foamy head that slowly settles to a lid, leaving awesome lacing behind
Aroma: Pine sap, navel orange, some white grapefruit, Cara cara orange, blueberries, crushed pine needles, Cannabis, light melon, and bready malt
Taste: Kicks off with a nice, resinous blast of all things pine – needles, sap, wet pine forest – before being joined by waves of citrus fruit. Grapefruit, orange, and kumquats are all in play and here, dank, melon, and berry notes also weave in and out of the spotlight, while the malt tries to keep it all in balance. Closes with pine and a nice bite
Mouthfeel: Full, lightly slick, medium-high carbonation, and moderately dry on the finish
Overall: This is some tasty stuff. I scored a crowler of this at the brewery as I wanted to try it there but needed to ensure a safe trip home as it is their main IPA and one I hadn’t tried previously. Short story – it’s awesome and a nice old-school tasting WCIPA with big pine and citrus presence along with a little dank and berry, plus the good malt backbone, nice hop bite, and drier finish. This well be in rotation next time I’m at the brewery and worth trying for IPA fans as well
