We created our first blend by fusing the Bourbon Barrel Aged Kona Coffee Brown Ale with our Woodford Bourbon Barrel Aged 1885 Porter. Being a second-use project, most of the bourbon has already come out of the wood in the first cellaring; creating a beer that is light in booze, yet has gracious amounts of oak.

Pour dark woody brown in color with a mild red hue. Head is a thin white film over the top of the beer.
Smell is great. Fresh coffee along with mild amounts of wood and a good amount of caramel and nutty aromas from the barrel and malt.
Taste is great lots of caramel and some mild nutty flavors are forward and followed by a nicely balanced coffee flavor and a little bit of oak. Mild sweetness is balanced with a mild roast flavor from the coffee and richness from the barrel.
Mouthfeel is good. Lost a little bit of body to the barrel but the thinness is offset with mild carbonation, a rich sweetness and a mild dryness finish.
