On draft at the brewery. Pours deep black with a nice tan head and good lacing.
The smell is dark malts and chocolate.
The taste follows with tons of bitter chocolate. It's like a slightly more chocolate Expedition Stout.
Very thick and creamy mouthfeel.

a strong bock beer apparently made with ten different types of cocoa. doesnt that sound amazing? well, its really nothing special, which, given the cool base beer and ingredient blend, i am very disappointed in to be honest. its almost flat from the tap, deep brown in color and rather shiny, no head at all. aroma is probably the best part, i get the bittersweet dark chocolate, earthy roasty nibs and dark grains, and even a hint of lager yeast in there to prove its a bock. all of that is very cool, but it also smells sugary and incomplete in some way. the flavor reveals a startling contradiction of tastes. the malt is way too high on this, and its not fermented dry enough. we lose some nuance from all these special chocolates added due to the high residual sugar, brown sugar tasting and there from start to finish. do i maybe taste some rye in here? there is some faint spice element, but possible cocoa derived, its tough to tell with all the sugar here. it wouldnt bother me so much if i could taste the yeast that i could smell, or if this had a little carbonation, but the yeast is absent and there are no bubbles at all, so this gets heavy and almost flat soda-like, and its a lot to drink through. when these guys hit, they make some incredible stuff, but their quality is really all over the map. this should have been far better than it is... definitely a let down for me...
