Our third installment of The Paradise Nines IPA Project. The Trippel Double - Our IPA Trippel.
Aged in white wine barrels, bottle conditioned.
This unique beer combines the attitude of an American IPA with the inspiration we get from the Belgian way of brewing. Generously Hopped, yet balanced between a strong IPA and a Tripel. Golden in color, malty with an expressive estery fruitiness, a citric American hop aroma, finishing with a distinct dryness.

A: Very little clarity, banana yellow with little lacing
S: not a solid nose with some traditional musty smells found in belgiums but nothing of note
T: this sits in the middle of a tripel and PA. Not really hoppy enough for my tastes. sits musty and bitter
M: medium mouthfeel with low carbonation
O: NOt too strong belgium influence nor as hoppy as would like. just OK.

the hard work paid off! (literally, the search for a good paradox beer has taken five or six 12 dollar bottles!) but i found one! this is definitely (as far as i know) not intended to be a brett beer, but it almost assuredly is one, odd, but it works. hazy blonde color with a big white head, but thats only after the shotgun crack bottle opening and gush of some 15% of the beer from the bottle. some of the paradox beers are dead flat, others do this. the nose is bretty as anything, a possible beneficial infection here, good belgian yeast too, hoppy as well, on the floral side, minimally bitter in nose and taste. the flavor is decidedly wild, there is no way brett isnt in this bottle, i guess its accidental because most brewers claim their wild ales, but oh well. it works. the light malt base, touch of sweetness, and belgian yeast work great with the hops, which are diverse and bright and clean. the carbonation is outstanding and this is a nicely drinking beer right now. tons of flavor in here, very very enjoyable stuff, even if its not as intended. i am still confused by paradox (a paradox in and of itself), but this one is worth the money.
