strange offering here, been eyeing this one awhile as i think we don't have nearly enough wheat wines on the market, and certainly not enough dark ones, but this one is a weird one. the color is nice and dark amber to nearly brown, with a glorious khaki head over two inches tall and lasting pretty well. the only knock on it is a big one, its got those same massive yeast floaters on the surface, bone white and nasty looking, as so many other paradox beers, its such a turn off, and ruins the appearance of an otherwise beautiful looking glass of beer. the nose is cool though, dusty dark wheat, minimally sweet, with a nice oaky bite and some mass to it. the flavor has an almost candied cherry fruitiness to it, amongst the darker wheat malt, which is a unique and tasty presentation, but there is an unwelcome tartness, not quite acidic, but funky for sure. it dries out as it swallows, and then a sweetness comes back, flooding the palate with a burnt sugar caramel vibe that is quite tasty. just bizarre though. i love the feel, this beers best feature, effervescent carbonation and a lot of body. the alcohol is poorly hidden, but all the bubbles keep it drinking pretty light. lots of flavor in this one, and the feel is much better than the tripper that i just had, but it still needs some refining.
