Skully Barrel No. 8 – Sour Ale, Wine Barrel Aged – Paradox Brewing Co. (Colorado)

App: Pours a semi-opaque caramel brown with an almost non-existent head that foams up with loose bubbles and settles very quickly.
Smell: Acetic, with a strong barrel and wood presence. Slightly solvent, almost like myrrh. Some very faint hints of clove and green apple.
Taste: Very assertive on the foretaste, high notes of unripe fruit, followed by a medium woody bite. Finishes bright and dry, with a long lingering sourness.
Mouth: Carbonation very low with a light body that is reminiscent of wine. Sourness is very tart and leaves the palate slightly dry.
