A- deep brown with a thick, light tan head that lasts and lasts.
S- lots of wood, citrusy hops, lightly floral, a touch of alcohol that seems to invoke red wine and bourbon, maybe just the complex malts and yeasts tricking me
T/M - dry but viscous, with surprisingly low carbonation. Flavor is again dominated by oak, aged wood, earth and sweet caramel. Hops are just present as both a light citrus touch and enough bitterness to pull it away from being a sweet beer. As it warms a little bit more hop flavor and a strange lemony tartness appear, but still are only just barely noticeable amongst the malt.
O- an enjoyable beer, but not what I had expected. None of the components seem to cry out too strongly and the overall character is a lot like a lightly oaked barley wine.
