Actually this beer has a touch of peppers in it, although the heat is minimal, and it could have been classified as either a Belgian dark ake, or a pepper beer. However, I discussed the addition of several beers from this brewery with the staff, and we decided this was the appropriate category for this particular beer.
I don't think the peppers add enough to the brew to classify as a pepper beer, but they do give it a little extra twang and complexity. In addition, great Belgian yeast and complex malty flavors dominate this beer. There's a lot going on in this one.
Body is medium to almost thick, with a Belgian yeasty finish. Alcohol is nearly completely hidden. Excellent.
