Poly-microbial, Turbid, Fruity, Tannic
Bottle #1193 of 1588 (AM-OAK060814). According to the label this beer went through a “poly-microbial fermentation” with brettanomyces, saccharomyces, lactobacillus, pediococcus, some other wild critters, and dry-hopped with Galaxy. Pours a turbid, muddy amber with a crazy creamy off-white head with a lot of stick. Aroma is yeasty, grainy, with some mint and herbal. Creamy, fruity, stone fruit, caramel, gritty, grainy, lemony, berry-like tannins, rhubarb tartness, leafy feel on the palate. Yeasty, dry, tannic finish. Although there’s a lot at play, and the appearance extremely daunting, it’s an interesting brew with seemingly endless layers.

Poured from a 500mL bottle into a teku glass. The beer is #522 of 1588. I can't find a bottled date.
Enormous, yeasty, cream-colored foam surges off of the pour. With the bottle uncapped, head continues to spit from the bottle. The body is a murky, cloudy orange color that looks more like a wort than a final product. This is a bit of a disappointment, but I'm still holding out hope for this beer. 3
Okay, this nose is relieving. Pleasant citrus notes of grapefruit and orange juice, sweet caramel notes and some floral yeastiness. The aroma here is very nice. 4.2
Ahhh, excellent flavor as well, this beer is now redeemed. Great grapefruit and orange flavors, sweet caramel, and floral yeastiness. It's essentially what the nose offered. There's even some passionfruit in there. Delicious. 4.2
It's yeasty and effervescent as one would expect from all that yeast on the pour, but it's also creamy, slightly tart, and a tad bit bitter. It's zesty and somewhat refreshing, although there's a medium body. 4.1
If not for the messy yeast on the pour and out of the bottle, I'd love this beer completely. The nose, flavor and mouthfeel are great, making this beer quite a gem. 4.1
