You’ll need a cutter to break the ice on the Penobscot, but we can help in the Pub. The Penobscot Icebreaker is our classic Winter Spice Ale. Made with pumpkin, orange peel, cinnamon, nutmeg, molasses, and boasting a high enough alcohol content to help warm you on any winter day. Served on tap in a pint glass.

Appearance: Reddish brown with a thin beige head.

Smell: Light hops, with spices, light pumpkin.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Very smooth medium bodied. Taste of pumpkin spices, vanilla, and light citrus with a malt sweetness.

Overall: Very good beer, I would have this one again.

Pours an amber color with an offwhite head, fades quick enough and leaves no lacing on the glass.

Smell is quite spiced with a malt sweetness on the nose, touches of vanilla and tons of pumpkin spice, quite heavy handed.

Taste is similar to the nose, strong spicing throughout and a bit hard to handle since it's overwhelming, the sweet malt backing does not help with this and without any hops to balance things it's very difficult to keep drinking, carbonation levels are good with a decent body.

I know winter ales are typically spiced but sometimes the kitchen sink doesn't need to go in as well.
