Abita Wrought Iron IPA embodies the resilient, indestructible nature of New Orleans. This india pale ale is forged with the intensity of Apollo, Equinox and Mosaic Hops. Brewed with pale ale malt for a golden color as bright as iron from a fiery forge.

12oz bottle in a stemmed tulip glass.
A- Bold orange color, hazy, with a thick white head that finishes as a big dollop. Fat heavy rings of lacing. It has the 'wow' look.
S- Citrus hops with pale malts. Light floral notes.
T- Oily citrus hop, orange rind, pale malts, woodiness. Some caramel sweetness.
M- Full body. Starts a bit sweet, finishes with hop bite. Just a slight bitterness.
O- A pleasant surprise. All around good IPA.

The best I've tried from Abita. Hazy, amber color. Big white head with good lacing. The aroma of tropical fruits and malt. Well-balanced hoppy bitterness in taste. Smooth, easy to drink.

Disclaimer I am not a big IPA person. I will try them and I have found some I have thoroughly enjoyed. This is not a bad IPA just not one that I prefer. I think most IPA drinkers will enjoy this beer.

This beer is a nice golden amber tone, the hops are there and quite bitter but crisp. This isn’t a fruity IPA, and that’s great, a nice change of pace beer that goes great with a gumbo or jambalaya.

Hazy amber appearance with a medium size, off white head and good lacing. Aroma of soft fruit and sweet grains. Flavor is moderately sweet but nicely balanced by resinous hops up front and a fruitier aftertaste. Creamy, medium bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel with an average length finish. Good bargain.

Not only is this brewed for New Orleans. It smells and possibly tastes like the streets of New Orleans. Not even a pressure washing crew could remove this foulness from my mouth. Just a bad IPA. Sour, green, the yeast choice, just all of it is one BIG EASY NO! This beer puts the NO in NOLA.

Appearance:
Light amber, slight haze. Medium rising bubbles. Thick creamy head. Very good head retention.
Aroma:
Malty, caramel, some citrus, herbal.
Taste/Finish/Body:
Malt forward, sweet bread, caramel, butter-scotch. Hop bitterness is medium, herbal-leafy, a little citrus. Bitter-sweet finish, dry, lingers fairly long. Medium bodied, crisp, a little alcohol burn, fairly sharp carbonation.
Overall:
Taste more like an English IPA, but I really enjoy this one!
