Our Saison is made with pilsner and white wheat malt. Although this gives the beer a light color, make no mistake: it is a fullbodied brew. We hop and dry hop this beer with Cascade and Sterling hops from the Pacific Northwest. This gives the beer a spicy and citric flavor and aroma. We also use a traditional Belgian yeast, which imparts a distinctly fruity aroma. Finally, we spice the beer with white pepper and a combination of orange and lemon peels. This is done to accentuate the flavors of the hops and yeast. The Saison is unfiltered, so it will still have yeast in the beer and be slightly cloudy when poured.

This is the select beer for now, I dont know if it is the same recipe as the other reviews.

Served a light and hazy light golden orange with a fluffy white head that rests for a good while. Nice lacing.

Smell. Is light and refreshing already, bit of citrus in it. Spices are there, allspice type smells are whats dominant. There is a little sweetness similar to marshmellows that leaves me thinking it will be a little creamy.

Taste. flavors are lighter and more delicate that many other saisons, but is still very good. Lots of citrus come through. bitterness is a bit higher than i expected, but still not really that bitter. Flavors are fruity with the citrus tartness, but also has a bit of sweetness like from a very ripe strawberry. Has a bit of cinnoman too. Aftertaste is great with a lingering flavor that gets sweet to me and reminds me of marshmellows.

Mouthfeel. Body is crisp, but not empty. Fills the mouth nicely with a proper amount of carbonation.

Overall, I really enjoy this beer. It is not a great example of the style so much, but still a very good and refreshing beer with enough complexity to give it a lot more tries.

This is my first sample of the Saison style, and to be honest I didn't like it very much. Poured a light amber with no head. Smell was slightly sweet, with some spices. Taste reminds me of the Chimay, which I also didn't care for. A little sweeter than Chimay and less spiced. This just isn't my thing, but I reccomend it for fans of Trappist ales.

Gave this one a try on tap at the Blind Tiger in NYC. Suprised to see this style from Abita, who usually seem to stick to their usual creations. Anyway the style is a favorite. This version hit me as a solid if "middle of the road take on the style" which is ok in my book, considering the style is broadly defined. So you get a cloudy brew, nicely laced in the glass, a bit of earthyness, complex spicing, a fruity bubblegummy note in the mix. Alot of interesting things going on and alot to be savored and enjoyed. Wish they bottled this stuff!!
