Our ESB2 is made with pale and light crystal malts. This is going to give the beer a deep pale color and malty flavor. It will also give it a very strong taste. It is hopped liberally with Apollo and Willamette hops. This will give the beer a pleasant bitter taste and an intense hop flavor and aroma. The extra bitterness will mix with the strong sweet flavor from the malt to give the beer a very balanced taste. The result is a very bold and flavorful ESB.

Abita ESB2 on tap at Pony Bar in New York City, served on an 8-oz tulip glass.
Appearance: Hazy deep amber ochre color. Very white but ephemeral head. Nice thick lacing.
Smell: Toasted malts, biscuit. Reminds me of the infamous Fat Tire, only way better. Sugars and cookie aromas too.
Taste: Burnt sugar, cake. Bread. Very nourishing!
Mouthfeel: Perfect carbonation, medium-to-full body. Nice subtle bitterness as it goes down.
Drinkability: High! (also because it is served on a small tulip, but chuggable nonetheless).

On tap at the Barley Oak.
Pours a clear, light copper color with a light tan head. Laces well.
Aroma is nice, but unpronounced as a whole: Spicy, bitter hops with hints of citrus and sweet malts.
Initially, stinging bitterness with accompanying citrus fruits with an ample malt backbone that rounds this thing out beautifully. Classic ESB, only intensified. Quite enjoyable.
Slightly heavy, more medium body. Well pronounce carbonation.
A rather enjoyable, intensified take on the style. One was enjoyable and satisfying; I didn't yearn for another. ABV unknown, but a guess is that it's kicking on the higher side.
I definitely would enjoy this during another visit.
