As I CANtinue with New DELMARVA (+ DC) Beer Sunday (Week 774), I'd like to give a shout-out to my local, in-person beer trader, @tone77 who dropped this CAN off for me a while back. At least I get the photo credit. The CANQuest (tm) is an awesome thing!
From the CAN: "Good Friends[,] Good Waves[,] Great Beer"; "3rd Wave Brewing Co.'s American Wheat Ale brewed with tons of peaches. Our most popular wheat ale that is so good in any summer adventure to keep cool."
Having learned my (hard) lesson from the last one, I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass, stopping at ~ the 2/3 point. The foaming action was marvelous, forming two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with very good retention, slowly falling away to wisps. In the interim, the color was a sunny Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5) with NE-quality clarity, leading to an impromptu visit from The Gelt Gang of Mammon, Croesus & Midas, all clamoring for a taste. Nose was SUPER peachy! That's the beauty of this style - as long as the fruit is evident, it is golden. It smelled like going out to a local farm, gathering a bushel of peaches, bringing them back to my late-paternal grandmother's house & starting in. We beCAN by CANning the bulk of them. Next, we made dough & baked tarts, pies, cakes & all sorts of goodies.
She was the mistress of the oven while my late-maternal grandmother ruled the stovetop. I learned to cook at an early age & even CANsidered either culinary school or being a Navy cook as I left high school. Neither panned out, but I still love to cook (as long as it is not just for myself).
Ugh, these digressions. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but on the approach. The taste was full-on, no-brakes peach! Peach tempered with a slight tartness from the wheat, which was not just okay, but it also lent the beer a very tasty peach pie quality. Mmm. Finish was closer to semi-dry than semi-sweet, but you need to bear in mind a) mine was an aged CAN & b) I still had some left to pour. I was willing to saCANfice something in the interest of clarity. Thus far, it was paying off. My final Glug was surprisingly only lightly-hazy! 8=O Nothing else really ChANged. Good? Stylistically, this was a GREAT beer!

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours yellow orange with a small white head. Smells of peach, not much else, but not overly fake. Tastes of some wheat with strong peach notes. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a good beer.

Upon pouring can into mug, created a thick foamy head. Color was light, almost like a lager, unexpected for a wheat beer. Somewhat cloudy too. The peach smell is heavy, almost like having a fresh bowl of peaches under your nose.
The taste is very crisp and smooth. Definite peach flavor, but not sickening so. Sweet and crisp, a great summer beer.
The feel is smooth and light. High carbonation. Refreshing.
Overall, one of the best peach fruit beers I have ever had. In very high demand. Tough to find.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a golden/whitish color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is absolutely bursting with fresh peaches. Taste is peaches, wheat, some malts, balanced and tasty. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a highly refreshing fruit beer without being overly sweet.

What a great beer. Made with local peaches. The aftertaste was pleasant, the peach was noticeable but not earthy. Semi Sweet, not too hoppy. A very good beer by this eclectic brewery. Very Limited production, hope to see it back soon. A great beer for even non craft drinkers. The lack of overwhelming hop profile makes this an excellent mass palatable beer.
This brewery makes some interesting brews.
