Serving: On tap at the brewpub
Served: 6 July 2014
Appearance: Pours a hazy light yellow with a creamy white head. Head sticks around for a while despite the relatively high ABV, and leaves light lacing. Some carbonation bubbling up from the bottom.
Smell: Smells clean and dry, with a slight maltiniess and a weak hop assertion. Standard Belgian yeast notes in the nose of spice and banana.
Taste: Similar to a hefeweizen in terms of grain bill- smooth, semi-sweet malts with overarching banana flavors. Finishes sweeter than a hefeweizen though, and the yeast does add a considerable amount of standard Belgian spiciness. Refreshing hop presence in this one adds just enough flavor to keep the beer interesting, and just enough bitterness to give the beer a fantastic finish.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, with medium carbonation.
Overall: One of the best beers I've had from Function, and one I would certainly get again. Highly recommend.
