Collaboration between Upland, Bloomington Brewing Co, Function, The Tap, and Quaff On.

Hop Strike is a dank India Pale Lager, packed with Chinook, Cascade, Centennial, Simcoe, Mosaic, Galaxy, Amarillo, and CTZ hops. This almost absurd combination of hops, including some dropped into our hopback from a drone, offers rich tropical aromas and a dank, fruity character. A traditional lager yeast strain and weeks of cold conditioning provide a clean, crisp finish.

Serving: On tap, 4oz sampler
Served: 9 April 2015

Appearance: Nice golden color, crystal clear, with a solid white head and magnificent lacing.

Aroma: Crazy hop profile in this one- big citrus notes, especially grapefruit and lemon zest, but with a notable resiny pine note as well, with a subtle underlying dankness. Really intriguing.

Taste: Again, huge hop notes overlaid on a standard malt backbone. Not much in terms of malt flavor, but there is a distinctive lager crispness to the beer. Hop flavors are much danker than in the nose, and skewed towards the citrus end of the hop spectrum. This thing has 7 hop varieties in it, but they all work decently together. Nice crisp lager finish lets the bitterness sink in without biting and demands another sip.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Drinkable.

Overall: A marvelous beer from Function, Upland, Quaff On, the Tap, and Bloomington Brewing Cos. A great collaboration and an exceedingly drinkable beer, even if the hop bill is kind of outrageous. Would highly recommend.
